TABLE OF CONTENTS
I - NAME AND FORM OF OGANIZATION
Section 1 The name of this organization shall be: The Hazelwood Volunteers, Co. E, C.S.A., Inc.
Section 2 This organization shall be a member organization of the North-South Skirmish Association in conformance with the by-laws of that organization, ,and within one year after being accepted into the N-SSA shall be affiliated as a senior club of the National Rifle Association, ,and may be affiliated with any other kindred organization as may be decided upon by the membership.
Section 3 This organization shall be incorporated in the state of Virginia, under Chapter 2 of Title 131 of the code of Virginia.
II - Objectives
The objectives of this organization, in addition to participating in the skirmish program of the N-SSA, are as follows:
- To promote markmanship and the safe handling of weapons fired in our activities.
- To promote sportsmanship and fellowship among our memebers.
- We embrace completely the objectives of the N-SSA:
- To conduct skirmishes in out traditional form of company target competition
- To provide and maintain a uniform proceddure for conducting these skirmishes safely for the pleasure of competitors and spectators.
- To promote muzzle-loading rifle shooting through the use of Civil War weapons fired in the original manner and to encourage the preservation and display of Civil War material.
- To uphold our constitutional right to keep and bear arms by independent action and in cooperation with other organizations having the same objectives.
- To commemorate the heroism of the men of both sides who fought in the Civil War, 1861-1865, as a reminder of our national heritage.
III - MEMBERSHIP
Section 1 All members in good standing of the Hazelwood Volunteers, Co. E, C.S.A., Inc., who were members prior to January 1, 1973, shall be charter members.
Section 2 Members shall be fifteen years of age or over, a United States citizen, and must not have been convicted of a felony, and must not be or have been a member of an organization or group having the purpose of the overthrow by force or violence of the Government of the United States or any of its political subdivisions. Each member must subscribe to the oath of the NRA as follows: I certify that I am a citizen of the United States; that I am not a member of any organization which has any part of its program the attempt to overthrow the government of the United States by force or violence; that I have never been convicted of a crime of violence; and that if admitted to membership, I will fufill the obligations of good sportsmanshp and good citizenship.
Section 3 With the exception of an honorary membership, no member may belong to another member organization of the N-SSA or belong to or participate with any organization which competes with the Hazelwood Volunteers in any skirmish activity. This will not exclude a member not needed as a firing member at a skirmish from firing with another organization which is short handed.
Section 4 Membership dues must be paid in accordance with Article IX, Dues, to maintain good standing in the orianization.
Section 5 The secretary will publish a roster of membership at least annually.
