| My dad served the Province of Ontario as a member of the Ontario Provincial Police from March 1971 till the end of March 2000. Throughout his career he got the grand tour of Ontario, starting his career at OPP Downsview working out of Queens Park for some time and on the highways around the GTA. From there was transferred to London Ontario. During his time in London, he became a motorcylce cop as well as becoming one of the original members of the OPP TRU Team in 1975. We spent a few summers in Grand Bend Ontario were he did regular patrol over the summer months. Three years later he was transferred to the isolated community of Chapleau Ontario. After more then six years of working in Northern Ontario, he wanted to go farther north, and was transferred to South Porcupine, and was stationed out of there but flew up to the Native Communities along Hudson Bay and James Bay. Doing that for two years, he was then transferred to Owen Sound and became a Detective. Dad worked at the Northern most part of Ontario and decided to work in the southernest part of the province of Ontario in Windsor, and was a one of the first Detective Constables working in the Casino's. Once again, time for change, and finished out his career working in Orillia, working for one of the units at GHQ, which got him traveling across the province doing investigations. Retirement came to him in March of 2000, and is enjoying every minute of it. |
