LINKS TO RESPECTED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS

Below is a list of individuals who are volunteering their time and knowledge to answer any questions you may have about advancement in the field of medicine.  As you will notice, several of them are graduates from Saint George's, and may be able to give you specific input on what to expect (and how to prepare now for what you will see) once you leave Grenada.  Regardless of your thinking feel free to write to these individuals, even if it is simply to make yourself known, or to thank them for taking the time to show their interest in us.

Stephanie Weiss, MD Dr. Weiss is currently a resident in the Radiation-Oncology Program at John's Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland.  Dr. Weiss is a May 1999 SGU graduate, and was one of the first officers of the Emergency Medicine Club.  She will be returning to the island in August of 2001.  At the current time she is involved with two different web sites: http://www.medschool.com and http://travel.to/sgusom.  She has been very supportive of our web site promotion, and was the first individual to offer any type of advice to the current student body (without being asked to do so).  Thank you Dr. Weiss for your input and assistance.
Joseph Feldman, MD Probably one of my favorite individuals to meet down here, Dr. Feldman an SGU graduate is currently the Vice Chairman of the Emergency Trauma Department at Hackensack University Medical Center in beautiful New Jersey.  (No, he is not "one of my favorites" because he is a Vice Chairman and I want to go into EM).  Dr. Feldman is involved in the on-going construction of an ATLS program for the island of Grenada.  Thank you Dr. Feldman for offering to assist current students with any inquiries.
Kevin Hewitt, MD Probably my other favorite individual to meet down here, Dr. Hewitt is an Attending Physician in the Emergency Trauma Department at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey.  Dr. Hewitt works in combination with Dr. Feldman in presenting the ATLS course to the island of Grenada.  Thank you Dr. Hewitt for offering to answer any questions the students here may have.
Carlo Soli, MD Dr. Soli will be graduating later this Spring in NYC.  He recently matched an EM residency at the Level I Alleghany Hospital in downtown Pittsburgh, PA (CONGRATULATIONS!).  If you have any questions about clinical rotations, or the whole board exam process, this is the man to seek.
Arian Nachat Warren, MD Dr. Nachat-Warren an SGU graduate is currently doing a Family Practice Residency Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, at The Stamford Hospital.  While a student at SGU she was regularly involved in the teaching workshops offered by the Emergency Medicine Club.  She would be a very helpful person to consult about what to consider when thinking about that residency.
Matthew Warren, MD Dr. Warren an SGU graduate is currently involved in a Pediatrics Residency at Yale in the outer New Haven area of Connecticut.  He, like Dr. Arian Nachat-Warren, was actively involved in the ongoing teaching sessions offered by the Emergency Medicine Club. (I would like to thank both Dr.'s Warren for taking the time to offer their assistance to current students.  Without being asked to do so, they openly offered their email address to me in December to utilize if I needed any help regarding future decisions or pathways in this field.  This just exemplifies the quality of people who come out of our school.)
Kelly Klein, MD Dr. Klein an SGU graduate is currently involved in an Emergency Medicine Residency at Detroit Receiving Hospital.  That also happens to be one of the best Emergency Medicine Residencies in existence.  While a student at SGU, Dr. Klein was not only involved with the Emergency Medicine Club, but she was also a Physician Extender.  We are currently trying to get the administration to invite her down to Grenada to present a seminar to us.  Thank you Dr. Klein for allowing students to contact you with any questions.
Traci Thoureen, MD Dr. Thoureen a 1998 SGU graduate is currently entering into her FOURTH YEAR of residency in Emergency Medicine at Yale Univeristy in Connecticut.  She voluntarily offered her address to assist any students with questions pertaining to their future endevors.  Thank you Dr. Thoureen for taking the time out of your busy schedule to offer assistance to us about future career and education decisions.
