Tapes

To get started, try a very simple form of meditation. Close your eyes for about 15 seconds and attempt to think of absolutely nothing.  Most people find this very difficult as many thoughts come into their mind.

These thoughts form a subliminal background to our lives and guide us in our actions. It's important that we pay attention to these thoughts and modify them so that this background is one we want.

Close your eyes again for 15 seconds and pay attention to the thoughts that intrude. Don't judge them. Just note them. In fact, it's helpful to keep a journal as you progress. You will be amazed at the changes in your life in a fairly short period of time.

To record the tapes in your mind takes a period of about 21 days. This will be the length of time I'll spend on each topic. There will be an overriding theme for each topic as well as a Bible verse added each day for the topic.

The overriding theme should be repeated each night as we go to sleep for about 2 minutes and each morning after you wake up for about 2 minutes.

Each day will also have a related Bible verse I recommend you keep in front of you during the day. Just print out the websites if you like.

A bit of a warning. The change in your life, even though positive, will produce stress in you. You may note physical changes as well as mental changes that are confusing. Take some time to relax during the day. Do something you enjoyed as a child. Also, it will produce some stress in those around you to see the changes in you.

One of the effects of spiritual laws is they are reflexive. When you practice them, they produce changes in the people you practice them with. They reflect these changes back to you. Be alert for changes in loved ones and do some relaxing things with them.

On to the first theme.

This first theme will be on the acceptance that God will rule our lives. That's all. The nightly and morning "meditation" wil be from Heb 10:22.

"This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord, I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them in their minds."

I paraphrased this into something like "I'll listen to the Holy Spirit tell me what to do, and then do it."

During the day, as I interact with people, I ask myself "Holy Spirit, what should I do now?"

The supplemental readings for the first 21 days will be based on the theme "Things go better with God."

The first one is
Psalm 1

1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.

2 But his delieght is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

5 Therefire the wicked will not stand in the judgement, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Take one idea out of this you can think of during the day. Such as, if I stay near the Lord, I'll not wither. Think of this theme during the day.
