CABBAGE ROLL CASSEROLE
Ingredients:

1/2 medium cabbage shredded
2 onions
1 clove garlic, minced (I tend to use 4 cloves tee hee)
3 cups cooked rice (1 cup raw rice yields 3 cups cooked)
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
2 x 8oz cans tomato sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp bacon fat or oil
1/2 tsp savory
1/4 tsp pepper
dash nutmeg

Method:

Place half of the shredded cabbage in a well buttered dish.  Heat the fat/oil in a frying pan and stir in ground meat until it loses rawness.  Add the onions and 1/2 a can of tomato sauce, savory, nutmeg, garlic, salt, pepper and rice.  Stir to blend thoroughly and pour remaining half tin of sauce over cabbage.  Cover with rice-meat mixture.  Place remaining cabbage on top then pour second can of tomato sauce over it to cover the top.

Bake 1 hour 50 minutes at 350 F oven.

Serves 6

Note:  Double the recipe (makes 2 casseroles) and freeze one.  Reheat frozen at same temperature of 350 F.
