APPLE CRISP

Recipes
This dish is extremely yummy and easy.  My mother-in-law Jean used to make it for her family.  My husband adores it.  The secret is fresh macintosh apples.
Difficulty Level:
2 out of 5
INGREDIENTS:

4 cups sliced pared apples or 6 medium apples (I prefer macintosh but you can use any type)
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp water
1 capful vanilla
pinch of cinnamon

TOPPING:

3/4 cup oats (I use Robin Hood)
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine

METHOD:

Grease a deep baking dish (I use a loaf pan - like the ones for meatloaf).  Arrange apples in the bottom of the dish.

Sprikle the apples with 1/3 cup brown sugar, lemon juice, water, cinnamon and vanilla.

Combine oats, flour and brown sugar, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.  Sprinkle on fruit to make a think topping.

Bake in moderately hot oven (375 F) for 35 minutes or until apples are tender.
