I am seeking sponsors for the Monterey Bay Sports Scene, a weekly one hour radio show that airs every Saturday at 1pm on KNRY 1240

About the show/ host

Embele Awipi started the Monterey Bay Sports Scene in July 2002 on KNRY 1240. The show has hosted athletes, coaches and entertainers from all over California. Remotes for the show included games in Berkeley, San Jose, Palo Alto and Los Angeles.

In July 2003, Mr. Awipi added columnist to his resume when he began writing a weekly column in the Salinas Californian titled On the Air. The column recaps interviews and happenings from the previous week. In addition to the newspaper s circulation of 20,000 readers, the column can be viewed online every Monday on The Californian s website.

Mr. Awipi also helped found the Otter Sports Network in November 2003. This put CSUMB basketball games on the internet and radio for the first time. When the show went on hiatus, Mr. Awipi became an assistant in the CSUMB athletic department for marketing and fundraising. Currently, he is in charge of halftime features for broadcasts, and the Public Address announcing at home basketball games. The show returned on July 2nd, with Salinas Valley Samba & CSUMB soccer coach Artie Cairel as the first guest.

He can be contacted at [email protected], or at 831-642-0503.

About the station

KNRY has celebrated 65 years of broadcast excellence in the Monterey Bay area, one of the major vacation destinations in the US with over 13 million visitors annually. Many of them make their way to Monterey's Bay Aquarium and the broadcast tower of AM 1240 KNRY.

KNRY carries CBS News at the top of each hour, innovative locally produced talk shows, as well as the most popular live syndicated talk programs, including The Dennis Prager Show, Shawn Hannity, Larry King Live, and the Business Talk Radio Network.

KNRY's long-time presence on the Central Coast makes KNRY the perfect medium to convey information about community events and attractions, reaching both local residents and visitors (95% of whom arrive by car with their radios tuned into the best source for news and information). This September, the station will be an affiliate airing San José State football games
