Yuki Souma is sixteen years old. He is in rat zodiac. He is also Tohru's class-mate. His childhood was filled with traumatic experience because Akito, the head of the Souma family often tortured him and locked him up in a room. Akito succeded in making him felt unworthy. It is thanks to Tohru that he starts to gain his self-worth.

Unlike Kyo, Yuki is a kind and reliable person. However he is not social and hates himself for this. He envies Kyo because Kyo can easily befriends with people. He also dislike Kyo since Kyo always acts fool and on one occassion ever collects leek yielded from a small farm that he and Tohru plant together.

At school, he has many fans, both girls and boys because of his pretty face. A Yuki's fan club is even made up by several girls with the most senior student as their leader. They make several rules to obey regarding the way to approach Yuki.

Being cursed in rat, he will transform into a rat when hugging a girl. This is why he always rejects many girls who have confessed their love. Therefore, it is to many people's wonder that such a perfect guy like him have no girlfriend and always keeps a distance.
