I was born on April 25th, 1975 in Izmir, Turkey. My father
was in the United States Army and was stationed there with my mother and
older brother Dave, who is two years older. My father was later
stationed in D.C. where my younger brother Raymond was born in 1977.
Shortly after Raymond was born, my family relocated to Guam.
We lived in the village of Chalan Pago. For those of you from
Guam reading this, it would be a couple houses down on the opposite side
of Marilyn Manibusan's house. We lived there for several years and
moved to Mong Mong where I started school at J.Q. San Miguel Elementary.
I Attended several elementary schools before 5th grade. If you
think you've seen me before, you're propably right. Aside from J.Q.
San Miguel, I attended M.A. Ulloa Elementary (1st & 2nd grades),
Carbullido Elementary (3rd grade), and Ordot Elementary (4th & 5th
grades) where we finally settled in Ordot.
I had it pretty tough growing up in middle school as
well as moving from village to village, a lot was due to some
family complications. I attended Agueda I Johnson Middle School from 6th through 8th grade, but I also went to F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle School
for a week during Typhoon Roy. I missed my AIJMS buddies, so I was
re-enrolled back into Agueda where I finished my middle school years.
Luckily, I only attended just one high school -
George Washington Senior High School. During the summer of my junior
year, I attended the University of Guam's Upward Bound program, where I
earned extra credit that can be applied to my senior year.
Despite senior class going through several major
typhoons and school schedule which looked like this:
|
1st period |
| Bomb threat |
|
2nd period |
| Break |
|
3rd period |
| Bomb threat |
|
4th period |
| Lunch break |
|
5th period |
| Bomb threat |
|
6th period |
| Dismissal |
We still managed to graduate in 1993 where I ranked 45
of 213 graduating students, which I don't think is bad. No more
rainy day "bomb threats" just about every period in white shirts.
That's for sure.
I was a pretty good kid growing up, considering the
trials and tribulations I had gone through in my early adolescent years.
While the village boys were altar boys, me and the girls sang in the choir
at our parish San Juan Bautista Catholic Church. I even
volunteered as a Teacher's Aide for catechism classes. I was also
pretty active in Agat's Young Christian Lifers, just call me "wholesome."
It will be eight years in December 2002 since I have
been out here in Seattle and I love everything out here except for the
weather. I have made many friends living out here, but I
still miss those from Guam. Life out here will never compare to the
years I spent growing up on the island.
I graduated with my Associate in Arts Degree in 1998
from Seattle Central Community College. It took me two years to figure out
what I wanted to do with my life. now that I think I know
what I want to do, I am going to make it my goal to get my Bachelor in
Science for Business Management. I went back to school in March of
2000 at the University of Phoenix and recently completed my Bachelor's of Science in Business Management.
Currently, I am employed as an Project Coordinator for Turner Construction = Special Projects Division based out of Seattle, WA. I am currently working on a project for the City of Seattle Fleets and Facilities Department. The Police Park, etc.
I became a homeowner (condo) last year and have finally been able to live out on my own. Living alone has its perks. I have enjoyed the fact that I can do whatever I want. I am proud to say
that I own everything I have in my home. Aside from the fire
truck and police sirens passing by, I have enjoyed my "quiet time" and
privacy. The only thing I have not really enjoyed much are the solo
dinners.
I cannot say what my future holds, but will take it
as it comes. I have been dealt many bad hands in my past that I
have become quite used to it. I have been living life one day at a
time and have been doing all I can to make it "a day well lived."
The goals I have set for myself will be attained in one
way or another. I will start my own venture, I will become a better person
mentally and physically, and I will remain open-minded. I know that
I will be successful in anything I set my mind on and I will live happily
ever after.
