Confusing World Cup Terms - what do they mean?
1. A MAIDEN OVER - An over lasts 6 balls. This is the average length of time that it takes the cameraman at a televised cricket match to pick out a pretty young maiden in the crowd.
2. BOWLED A GOOGLY - When you put something into an internet search engine and it comes back with 'no results found'.
3. BOX - When a batsmen is facing a particularly fearsome fast bowler he may opt to put a television down the front of his trousers for testicular protection.
4. L.B.W. - This stands for Leg Before Wicket. The meaning of this strange term is unknown. One school of thought believes that it simply serves as a reminder that the word 'leg' comes before 'wicket' in the dictionary. More of a 'special school' of thought really.
5. SCOTLAND - Countries that regularly fail to qualify for the football world cup are now allowed to enter the cricket world cup for a consolation. Or just for a laugh.
6.BAIL - What Marcus Trescothic does every overseas tour.
7. STUMP - A cricket term designed to attract a money grabbing ex wife of a Beatle to the sport.
8. CORRIDOR OF UNCERTAINTY - When you walk down a dark street at night and you're not sure if you are going to get suddenly battered by a gang of locals armed with cricket bats.
9.. SILLY MID-ON - A fielding position in the direct firing line of the batsman.
10.. STARK RAVING MAD MID-ON - As above but performed in the nude whilst proclaiming yourself to be the 'Son of God'.
