Let it be known that there are people out there whom are alarmists, and people who ejoy filling other peoples mail- boxes with junk and garbage. This is known as Spam. I have quite possibly been the target of an elaborate spam mail. It is my intention to research out these issues and report to you, the public, what the findings are in regards to the state of freedom on the internet. Below are some replies that I received from some anonymous sources.
these are in reference to "An Alarming Email"
that I received from a trusted soure on January 30th, 2000.

Um, who are you? And, this whole stuff about the government and internet is all a hoax. It's been circulating for years and is easily findable on hoax pages all over. I was taken in once, wrote my congressman who responded that no such bill or bills were ever even considered. This CNN thing has been around for like 5 years; time enough for people to realize that the government is really not going to do this "heinous act". I think your source needs updating. And unless you know for sure, absloutely, beyond a shadow of a doubt that something like this is true, you are as bad as a spammer in forwarding it and pressing others to do the same. Stuff like this only serves one purpose: to create trouble where none belongs. |
I'm surprised at you Robert; you should know better. Here's why this IS NOT REAL: 1) Bills start with a letter (usually H or S), not a number. The bill offered is 602P. That alone tells you the story's a fake. 2) There is NO congressman Tony Schnell. Enough proof? There is not now, has never been, nor is there likely to be any such bill before either house. Congress won't even pass an internet sales tax bill - they're not going to try and tax the net itself. It takes two minutes to check this stuff out. Please,
let's not contribute to the flow of crap that's been out there for years.
CHECK YOUR STORIES BEFORE YOU SEND THIS CRAP OUT.
