common in east asian cooking, this vegetable is a large (about 2x as large as a fist), round, light green, dense bulb with thick stems coming out of it in one direction. peel it before eating. click here for a photo.
the chinese name, "da tou cai," literally means "big head vegetable." keep in mind that "da tou cai" sometimes can refer to other kinds of dense cabbage-like vegetables.
