english: glutinous rice, sweet rice, sticky rice
mandarin: nuomi, jiangmi
vietnamese: gao nep
just like regular rice, glutinous rice comes in white and brown varieties. and just as with regular rice, brown takes longer to cook than white. glutinous rice also comes in short and long grain varieties. for most recipes on this site i generally assume you're using white short-grain glutinous rice.
