gbbcc is a small meditation hall, bookstore, tea house, vegetarian restaurant, and buddhist resource center located between central square and harvard square in cambridge.  run by a few nuns and a handful of volunteers, this place has a friendly and laid-back atmosphere, and the food is simple but amazingly good.  you won't find any meat, eggs, dairy, garlic, chives, onions, or scallions in the food here -- true to the chinese buddhist tradition.  a small selection of specialty vegetarian ingredients, such as gluten rolls, tofu cakes, vegetarian ham, vegetarian scallops, etc., are available by request.  from time to time gbbcc also offers vegetarian cooking classes, tai chi classes, meditation classes, scripture study groups, etc.  venerables and staff speak a mix of english, mandarin, taiwanese, and cantonese.  keep in mind that it's usually only open from 10 to 5.
