devon street (officially devon ave) is well-known as the main south asian district in chicago.
most of the food markets are indian and pakistani, and are located near devon & western (look a few blocks to the east and west of this). these are excellent places to buy inexpensive spices, herbs, lentils and other ingredients that are hard to find (or too expensive) elsewhere in chicago.
