According to Howard Gardner, there are eight different learning styles that we as humans use to learn academically or simply about the world which we live in. From the day we are born to the day we die we are always learning, picking up on new concepts and ideas that spark our interests and push us to learn more. But each of us learns by different means and concepts. These learning styles are: 1) Bodily/Kinesthetic - a "hands on" learner, uses touching, talking and movement as ways to learn 2) Interpersonal - someone who tends to be very outgoing and friendly, uses communication, sharing & comparing to gain knowledge 3) Intrapersonal - excels when able to learn on his/her own and on individualized projects, needs space from other workers 4) Linguistic - loves to read, write, and tell stories, has great memory and learns best by hearing and seeing 5) Logical/Mathematical - loves to do experiments and ask questions in order to understand, excels at math, reasoning, logic and problem-solving 6) Musical - adores singing and playing instruments, can remember melodies and recognize pitches/rhythms easily 7) Naturalistic - enjoys being outside, interacting with nature and learning in natural settings 8) Spatial - learns well when drawing, designing and building and learning through visualization
I am . . . a friend, a sister, a daughter, an athlete, a baller, a Celtics fan, a music fan, a joker, a liberal, a talker, a semi-Chorus geek, a desnigner, a filmmaker, a dreamer, a writer, a gangsta, and a skilled freestyler. i am me.
Before taking the Multiple Intelligence Survey, the learning styles which I felt I fit best were Linguistic, Bodily/Kinesthetic, and Intrapersonal. Writing has always been a passion of mine; whether it be in a journal or in a term paper, I have always felt that I am able to express myself most freely through words. I also enjoy reading, whether it be for personal enjoyment or for class requirements, and analyzing literary works. My mind seems to take to literature because when I read I am constantly understanding new concepts and ideas that I've never touched on before. The only requirement in this learning type that I don't quite meet is the memorization-I really can only memorize things that I have interest in, like killer movie lines or A Tribe Called Quest lyrics, the scores of basketball games, and the periodic table. Actually scratch that last one. I consider myself to be a Bodily/Kinesthetic learner simply because I am very active in sports and fitness. I play three Varsity sports at BUHS: basketball, tennis, and I run cross country. Basketball is a huge part of my life, I play it year-round and I am hoping to continue playing as long as I can. I also work at the Rec. Dept. reffing basketball games for the girls' elementary program (and i work at the Museum hahaha NERD ALERT) I also do very well when learning hands-on and talking about the subject at hand. Lastly, I think that I am probably a more Intrapersonal learner simply because I do enjoy working on my own, with my own thought process and time constraints I am able to get things done. However I don't match this criteria very well because I loooooove to chat, as you will find out, and gossip, and all of that good stuff, but usually it's not about, you know, school....more like boys and stuff.
The results of my survey are as follows: Section 1, Naturalistic 70% Section 2, Musical 50% Section 3, Logical 30% Section 4, Interpersonal 70% Section 5, Kinesthetic 70% Section 6, Linguistic 70% Sectoin 7, Intrapersonal 50% Section 8, Spatial 60%

After taking the survey I see that my strongest intelligences are Naturalistic, Interpersonal, Kinesthetic, and Linguistic. The only real surprise that I see here is the Naturalistic strength, although I love being outdoors and am concerned for the environment I never actually thought that this would effect how I learn. My other three strengths were no real surprise to me. But looking at my results, they are definitely very spread out and equal, there is not one clearly dominant section and only one clearly weak section (Logical 30%).

According to the survey, the ways that I will learn best in Chemistry are through hands-on activities where communication and writing to understand are essential. Apparently I will also succeed when given topics that I have an emotional interest in, such as the environment. In my experience I have found that I can do well with either a strict, lecture-note-taking kind of class or a more relaxed, hands-on environment in which you learn through experience. Sometimes I actually prefer the lecture-styled class because it gives the student more of an initiative to understand the in-class notes. In contrast, I also love to figure out concepts on my own (although apparently not math/logic concepts) and so the more hands-on activities fare well for me as well. Basically, I'm not picky, and will probably adapt to any given learning environment because I tend to care about my grades and what I get out of a course. What I value most about myself is my ability to work hard for success, mostly in basketball and other hobbies that I take seriously. I don't believe anybody can get anywhere without a some hard work and sweat and maybe a few tears as well, otherwise what you accomplish won't be worth it. WHOOOOA MAXING OUT THE CORNINESS LEVEL HERE I'LL HAVE TO TONE IT DOWN A NOTCH. That's yours truly, all about moi, hope you enjoyed it mis amigos. Yo Mr. Perrin check out the joke on my homepage. I think you will appresh it.
