Latorah
"The vicious, six-legged sleen, large-eyed, sinuous, mammalian but resembling a furred, serpentine lizard, was a reliable, indefatigable hunter. He could follow a scent days old with ease, and then, perhaps hundreds of pasangs, and days, later, be unleashed for the sport of the hunters, to tear his victim to pieces."
Raiders of Gor, page 105
Latorah is my sleen and my friend.  We share a love to to travel together and she is fiercely loyal to me and very well trained.  She is a white prairie sleen.  One of the smaller breeds of sleen.  She is always at my right side and walks slightly ahead of me swinging her head to and fro, her lizard like tongue shooting out,  sniffing out possible danger to her Mistress.  When in my Home Stone, Elysian Fields and many of the places I visit (assuming I have obtained the permission of the Ubar for her to be with me) she can be found at my right side laying comfortably but always alert to danger even when sleeping.   Unless she knows someone and has been properly introduced by me, One should always approach her with caution.  I am of the Caste of the Physicians wearing the green Robes of concealment and when I travel my medicinal packs can be seen slung across her back as she carries them for me.

Our Story of coming together is a sad one.  In my travels one day through the plains of Turia on my way back to the Tahari desert to the lands of the Ariatai I came across a female sleen recently slain.  A runaway slave stood over her.  Since we had come up on each other rather quickly the kajirus and I just stood and eyed each other for a moment.  This slave had a quiva in his hand which is a death sentence for a slave.. to carry a weapon.  We both looked down at the sleen cub at his feet.  As I looked back up to my surprise the slave had vanished into the tall grass of the prairie.  I approached the baby sleen who immediately growled at me.  I spent several days camped beside the dead sleen winning the confidence of the young sleen.  She and I have been together ever since.  Friends and lovers come and go but my Latorah is ever present.
