OK, here's the story.

One early, I mean early (4:00 a.m.) there was an EMS run.  As usual, a couple of guys go on the squad and we leave a few here for a second call.  Well, an unusual number of people showed up and were talking in the bay behind the second squad (in bay 1).

An intoxicated individual walks into the station (bay 1 was open) and says, "Hey, did you know there is a van out here on fire!"

"What?!?" Being the skeptical individuals that we can be confronted by such an individual, walked out of bay 1 to find the Chief's personal GMC Suburban on fire!

So they pulled out the #114 and put the Chief's truck out.  #117 didn't fair well.  The truck was totalled out by the insurance company.  Fortunately for the Chief, we were able to put out the fire before it went accross the fire wall.  All of the contents inside were saved, just a little smokey.

The Chief has a new vehicle now (#1110).  We continue to harrass him (he lets us pick on him because if we didn't pick on him...well you know the saying).  He is good spirited about it and laughs about it himself.

Just recently, an unnamed individual went out and found a matchbox car that resembled the old #117, painted it to match, burnt the front of it and mounted it on a collector's display.  The unnamed has still not come forward, but the Chief proudly displays it in his office.
