More stuff on the Toyota Tacoma build!  Let the pics load and scroll down.  So far are pics of the bed completed and a few of the Coma as it sits now.  Enjoy!
Here's the Toy head on, showing the crappy old IFS lift and the flared fiberglass fenders.
Another pic of the bed set in place.  The bed will eventually tie in with a full external cage, to be added later.
Better shot of the bed.  Part of the diamond plate is laid in place for this pic.  Also note the missing 9" from the frame rail and the 1/4" thick rear crossmember.  The driver's door is left over from the old cab, and hopefully be replaced soon.  Hard to find a good used door around here for under $500.  The old door will probably eventually be cut down t
This shot shows the frame extentions tacked on the front.  I left them long so I can trim them down to the correct length depending on how much the front axle gets moved forward.  Also shown is the tubular bed set on the frame for these pics.  Note the snow, it's pretty cold out while we are building this thing.
Here's the bed before the diamond plate is installed.  Lots of 1" square tubing to add strength to the bed floor.  It's sort of prerunner looking, but it will take the bumps on the trails a lot better than the factory sheet metal bed.  We'll actually be adding to the prerunner look with a spare tire carrier in the back, but it will be hinged to flip down s
One of the two sheets of diamond plate purchased for the bed.  Almost a shame to cut it up, but it won't look this nice foreve once the truck gets used offroad for a while.  Ignore the beer bottles...
Here we have Mark, the owner, grinding all my sloppy welds down to nothing so the diamond plate will set level.  No, there's nothing wrong with you monitor, you are just on LSD.  Or maybe the camera is having trouble focusing on the sparks.  I'm sure there is a logical explaination that has nothing to do with your lack of sanity.   ;)
Here I am welding some more stuff for Mark to grind down.  I'm wearing my ECWS gear because Mark probably has the heater facing in the other room where he is cutting the diamond plate.  It's 12 degrees Fahrenheit outside, and not much warmer in the drafty little shack.  Also note the Dana 60 housing against the wall that will be getting the Detriot Locker
Bed floor trimed to fit, and the front wall laid in place.  Notice the two black things leaning against the wall on the right.  Those are the front crossmembers for the SAS kit that will hold the front leaf springs in place.
These last two are of the finally completed diamond plating.  Still a few details to be worked out and adjusted, but it looks pretty good so far, I think.  A toolbox to hold the air compressor, straps, chains, and tools will either be bought, or fabbed up to put in the front of the bed.  Military style fuel and water can carriers will be added to the fenders near the front also.
Still to come is the mounting of the bed, the diagonal braces to tie into the truck frame and the taillamp panels and front side panels.  Still waiting on the springs from AOR, but Mark has heard from them, so hopefully we will get them in, and be able to jump forward with this project.  Then we get to do the rear springs, and the exoskeleton.  Stay tuned!
