Results of the Nexus Character Awards for 2005

I am pleased to annouce that the results of the second annual Nexus Character Awards are in! Click the images of the winners to enlarge them.

Coolest Weapon

Aragorn's sword, Narsil, from Lord of the Rings, has won the Coolest Weapon Award for the second year in a row! It recieved 35% of the votes in this category.

Kenshin's sakabatou from the popular anime "Rurouni Kenshin" came in second, with 28% of the votes.

Tied in third place were Sesshomaru's Tensaiga from "Inu Yasha", and the Lance of Longinus from "Neon Genesis: Evangelion" with 14% each.

Best Genetic Mutation

Nymphadora Tonks from the Harry Potter book series won best genetic mutation by a landslide! This metamorphagus took 57% of all votes in this category.

Tied in second place are Inu Yasha from "Inu Yasha", Major Kusanagi Motoko from "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and Phntm888, one of our own members, with 14% each. We don't normally nominate members for the Character Awards, but we feel that Phntm's transformation into a mutant beast of some sort deserves an exception ;D.

There was no third place runner up because... well, all the nominees except Tonks tied for second. That may be the first time the Character Awards have had a three-way tie.

Most Rabid Fangirls

No surprise in this category. Legolas Greenleaf from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy came in first for the second year in a row. He took a staggering 71% of all votes.

Tied in second place are Okita Souji and Han Solo, with 14% each.

And, as in the previous category, there is no third place runner up because all the nominees tied for first or second place.

Worst Luck

Sirius Black from the Harry Potter series took first place in this category. He recieved 35% of the vote in this category, and I must say I think it's justified.

Second place were The Baudelaire Orphans from Lemony Snicket's "Series of Unfortunate Events". They took an equally well-deserved 28% of the vote.

In third place was Ranma Soatome from "Ranma 1/2". He took a close 21% of all votes.

Strangest Rescue Mission

Mr. Incredible's rescue of a cat in the movie "The Incredibles" won strangest rescue mission with 35% of the vote.

Koga's rescue mission tied in second place with the rescue mission from the movie "Pitch Black", with 21% each.

Also tied were the various rescues of Akane Tendo in Ranma 1/2, and the rescue mission in "The Courtship of Princess Leia", with 14% of the votes each.

Coolest Trench Coat

Shinomori Aoshi from "Rurouni Kenshin" won coolest trench coat with 35% of the votes in this category.

In second place was Neo from "The Matrix", one of last year's winners, with 28%.

Vash the Stampede from "Trigun" came in third, with 21%. Interestingly, both of last year's first-place winners placed, but neither won.

Best Heroine

Eowyn from J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy won this category with 42% of all votes.

Tied in second place were Tohru Honda from "Fruits Basket" and Major Kusanagi Motoko from "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex", with 21% of the votes ever. This may be the most unusual pair ever to tie for the same place in the same category.

The third place runner-up was Hermione Granger from J.K. Rowlings' Harry Potter series with 14%. She won first place in this category last year.

Coolest Line

Winner of this category was Malcom Reynolds in the movie "Serenity". He took 42% of the vote in this category.

In second place was Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars Episode III", with 35%.

Morpheus' lines in "The Matrix III" took third place with 28%.

Worst Line

Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars Episode III" won first place in this category by a landslide, with 71% of all votes. Interestingly, he is the only character ever to place in both the Best and Worst Lines categories.

Tied in second place were Jayne Cobb in the TV show "Firefly", and Saladin in the movie "Kingdom of Heaven". They each recieved 21% of the votes.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost,
From ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring,
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
