The old woman appears to be some kind of traveling gypsy, and she knew who the heroes where before they were introduced.
During each encounter with the old woman, she tells the heroes about how they must stay on the course they are on, and that it is a dangerous road ahead, before she gets on her wagon and leaves the group to the road.
