Book I - A Song of Shadows
Chapter 7 -The Reclaiming of Khundrukar
After a brief morning debate, the group decided to postpone heading to Shadowdale, to help Brondel claim the forge from the duergar. The heroes geared up to go, but Doan was nowhere to be found. Once they made it back to the forge, they found that the duergar had made a base in the stronghold, now that the ogre and orcs were gone. After a few skirmishes the heroes pushed the duergar back to the forge, but the last duergar mage vanished and escaped. With the forge now claimed by Brondel, he heard a voice calling him to work the forge, which he did. By the blessing of Moradin, Brondel forged the "Rune Hammer" The group then returned to Blasingdell, where Brondel sent word to his clan about the forge, along with a map to the forge, so the clan Blackanvil can colonize the fortress. The next morning the group began to head towards the city of Arabel, through the Hullack Forest. Half way through the forest, they found the road closed by the Purple Dragons, led by Sir Trent Fyne. The Purple Dragons were containing a village that had a strange crypt erupt in the center of it and spew forth undead. The group introduced themselves to the knight, and offered their services. It was at this time that the crypt spewed forth undead once more, and the heroes and the Purple Dragons pushed them back into the crypt. Sir Trent told his men to hold the crypt entrance and to seal it if they did not return within 8 hours. As the heroes and Trent delved deep into the crypt, they found the tombs of four fallen paladins, each holding a shard to a gem of somekind. After fighting the four Blackguards, the gathered the shards and were assaulted by the Vampiress Alara and her son, Rain.
