Chapter 6 -Something's Cooking
After much discussion, a plan is made, tactics formed and the group becomes a real company. While hammering out the details, Cyquois wandered around the village until he smelled a disgusting odor coming from a house. He knocked, then entered. As he walked around, Cyquois was assailed by a magically endowed fire poker. Using his flail, he bested it. Has he talked to the Captain of the Gate about the incident, Winter walked up, and decided to intervene. After this the group was given permision to investigate the smell from the ol wizard and cooks house that the order leaked from. Once inside they found that the kitchen had be smashed, and tomato sauce, without an aparent origin, was splashed all over the wall and floor, and the basement was blocked with some chairs. Before anyone could remove the chairs, they heard Winter call out, as he found the body of the owner tied up to his bed and tortured to death, while an imp was tearing some books apart. The imp went invisiable and fled. Alania went through the ransacked books, looking for clues to what was happening. She found that the owner loved to cook, and his wife love eating and was a mage, so the two now make magical bakeries. Downstairs they found that the smell was from the creation fo a golem made from a wonderful tasting calzone. WIth a few swift hits, the heroes took care of the golem, and cut it up for snacks. It was then that they heard a woman shriek. They came upstairs to find a woman sobbing over the corpse of the man on the bed. Startled the woman cast a spell. Doan was instantly on the offensive and struck with his mighty axe, only to find that his axe hit a wall of stone around her. Winter called him off, and with much pledding the woman came around and introduced herself as Andolyn, and the man on the bed as her husband, Gendrew. The company learned that Andolyn was once an adventurer who worked with along side the Knights of Myth Drannor, and that she had met Elminster at once long ago. They also learned that years ago, she worked with them to defeat a greater tanarri in the fallen city of Myth Drannor, and that her husbands murder was his vengengce. The company asked if they could help, but saddly, when a demon's physical form is destroyed, its soul goes back to the Lower Planes, where it is trapped for 100 years. So it sent an assassin to take vengence, and the demon is safely un assailable in the abyss. Now the heroes return to the inn to rest for a little while longer, and to finish gearing up for the trip through the rest of the Thunder Peaks and through the Hullack Forest. It is now the first month of fall.
