Chapter 2 -Spawn of the Gulthias Tree
The heroes returned to the village of Oakhurst, bearing the signet rings of the Hucrele children, and with it a tale of grand adventure. The group retreated to the Ol'Boar Inn, to relax and quench their thirst a pint of the house's best. It would be Winter's responsiblity to deliver the rings to the merchant Hucrele, and tell her the tradgic tale of her childrens demise. It had been a long struggle,as they decended into the citadel. It was 4 days they had been trapped underground. They lived off jerky and stale water, having only the light of the torch to warm and guide them in those forbidden depths. They had faced a young white dragon, and commited genocide against the goblins and kobold clans. In the depths of the stronghold, they found the children, and the source of twig-like creatures that had attacked them earlier. They found the children, but they were no longer themselves. They had become supplicants of the "Gulthias" tree. The heroes had no choice to kill the children and the strange druid named Belak. After terrible battle with the druid and the children, the heroes destroyed the "Gulthias" tree; freeing the souls of the children, who opened a gate for the heroes to return to the surface with. The heroes were surprised to be greeted by Vind, the local bard; inquiring about their adventure in the citadel. How did he know about what had been happening? The group would find out when they got to the Ol' Boar, where they were reunited with Brondel. The dwarf had gone back up to the surface with the map to the forge, after he had gotten so sick from the poison of the twig blights. He had gone to the healer to get help, where he learned that the poison was magically designed to effect even dwarves, who are normally very resisent to poison. so for those days he stayed at the healers place regaining his strength, and asking about the map. The map shows that the forge would be close to the town of Blasingdell. That would be at least a two week journey on foot. and the next closet town is Vethboro. Now the group must decide what they will do next?
