Chapter 10 - The Vast Swamp
Alania, now the redhaired damsel in distress, has been whisked away into the darkness right before Winter�s eyes. Harlin has gone missing as well, though the others have their suspicions of Harlin�s involvement in Alania�s abduction. The group prepared to find her, when Sir Trent approached them and intorduced them to a dwarven paladin of Lathander by the name of Fronan. It was also his duty to tell the group that Veera Wavecrest, the woman they had found in the temple; had gone to the authorities, and now Lord Sarp Redbeard demands that the group get rid of the threat of the Shar cult, or be arrested. Unhappy about this, the heroes pressed on towards the Vast Swamp. Unfortunately, the group ran a foul of a Bulette, and the dwarf was swiftly consumed. As they contined east, they ran into a dark-skinned mage named Zacho Meyer. They ran into a couple of merchants named, Norry and Coobert. They were a strange pair, that would finish eachothers sentences, and claimed to be some merchants who were using the Tomb of CHonis as a warehouse, and that some bandits now took it over. The heroes went to the tomb in hopes that they may find Alania. During the trip there, another Bulette attacked the merchants horse, and slew Coobert as he defended his steed. When they got to the tomb, Norry got shot by one of the bandits and died. The heroes cleared the place of the "bandits", finding that they were some kind of goat legged shadow creatures. Eventually the heroes reached the Vast swamp, where they were attacked by lizardmen by a pile of skulls and bones of various creatures. They were quickly dealt with. As they continued on to the east, Ethra(Cyquis� wolf companion) sniffed out a otygugh in waiting, and quickly removed the threat. Exhausted from there 60 mile trek from Wheloon, the heroes did not expect to find a tribe of Lizard folk who welcomed them, and their chieftain spoke to them of those who walk while dreaming, and that they attacked them to save them from this, not knowing that they were not affected. The chieftains name is Kessereck, and he told the groupabout the keep that the "hairy-ones" bring the people to, and that they have taken another tribne of lizardfolk, and they are now ruled by a dragon, and are creatures of undeath that the people of the keep have under their control.
