Born in Monroe, Louisiana, Kevin Curtis was the youngest of four children growing up in the mid 70's & early 80's. The Curtis family packed up & moved to Natchez, Mississippi in the summer of 1973 where in no time, the future entertainer would begin performing in local & state wide Talent shows all around southwest, Mississippi. Kevin's father, Jack Curtis, Sr. sold insurance & preached at the local Assembly of God church while his mom, Elois was a homemaker. "My mom & dad are both very talented. Dad is an accomplished writer, performer & author. I've always admired & respected both of my parents & all they've sacrificed in life". "Mom write's song's & poetry & paint's beautiful landscapes & has always backed my musical objectives". As a child, the young KC spent many hours each day locked in his room singing along with his favorite recording artists. "I grew up listening to a wide array of styles...from Motown to classic country, pop to blues, soul, gospel & 50's & 60's. I liked it all & found enjoyment trying to sound as much like the original artists as possible". Kevin's mother, Elois, decided to put all those hours of practice to the test & entered KC in his first talent contest at the local county fair at the age of 10. "I was scared to death at first, but after the music began & people started to clap, I relaxed & started to go with it. I won a teddy bear that night at one of the fair's booths. I gave that teddy bear to a little girl in a wheel chair while performing. I won 1st place & took home my first trophey that night, thus, beginning a lifetime search for teddy bears! My mom always encouraged me & made sure I got plenty of exposure. She did whatever she could to make sure I stayed focused on my goals & dreams. Dad was usually the man behind the video camera. My best friend Dwayne Richardson promised to manage my music career one day but he passed away early in life." Kevin joined local rock band "Ozone" at the age of 15, which later changed their name to "Fairchild". "We had fun performing at teen dance clubs, the local bowling alley, private parties, skating rinks, high school dance parties & really anywhere we could get a gig". Kevin won the Chicago Daley Plaza National Talent Search in 1990 with prizes including $1000 cash, a gold medal, 6-foot trophy & 8 hours recording time. "I was pretty excited about the win. I recorded my first demo in the same studio legendary rock group Styx recorded the album Cornerstone". After several years of city life, singing telegrams, playing in various bands & a string of near-misses in the entertainment business, Kevin returned to his roots in Mississippi & decided to give Nashville, Tennessee a shot. "I auditioned for & landed a spot on TNN's "Be A Star" in 1996 at Opryland USA. That was the first of many trips to Nashville". From 1992-today, KC has been a dedicated father to four great children ages 4 to 16 & involves them all in his music career taking them on the road much of the time making family vacations out of many gigs.
