The Story of Homeless Joe
Sit down and Ill tell you a story
Itll only take a minute no need to hurry
Its about a man people passed every single day
They never spoke they just looked away
Nobody really knew his name so
They all just called him Homeless Joe
Watching them and knowing the hope to bring
strumming his guitar you could hear him sing

Ill be coming home someday
Maybe later not sooner but either way
Ill be coming home some day
And in the end it will be okay

Some people thought there must be someone to blame
For a man to live like this was quite a shame
Maybe the government or the corporate few
Whatever the reason nobody knew
But he didnt seem to care
Not one drop of sadness or despair
He just kept on singing his song
Cause he knew right where he belonged
He was singing

Ill be going home someday
In the end my debt I wont have to pay
Ill be going home someday
On that green grass Ill forever play

One day the people just stopped to stare
Because the one they ignored they were now aware
He wasnt here he wasnt anywhere
For anyone who cared to notice
If they listened closely they could still hear his voice
And He was singing

Im going home to stay
To sing and my guitar forevermore to play
Im going home for good
Where Im going is understood

The story doesnt end there my friend
He didnt have nice clothes or money to spend
But in the end he was standing tall
Cause Homeless Joe had a home after all

Hes come home to stay
The things of life no longer in the way
Hes come home oh its so grand
Here forevermore he will stand
