| Since a little boy who spent summers and weekends at my grandparents' farm I've always had more than a casual interest in family history and historical information regarding our community. So, when older folks spoke about their past or shed information about the family I always 'lent an ear'. In recent years I've come across many websites that focus on families and family history. One that comes to mind is that of a NYC Puerto Rican woman who shed important, personal and historical information about her life as well as of the Nuyorican community. A second is that of a gay father who traveled to WDC with his biological daughter and then partner (though still close the 2 men have since seperated) for the April MMOW that in a very creative yet informative way shed light on their lives. It is with that same respect for the past and realization of its importance on the future that through my writings and photography I document not only my life but also the times in which I have lived. |
