Counter-Inaugural Protests
Presidential Inauguration
Though there are many different groups holding 2005 counter-inaugural protests in WDC ... each with their own particular focus and/or reasons for demonstrating and while to the general public it may sometimes seem that 'they all look and sound alike' as a free-lance photographer who in recent  years have documented many protests even to the naked eye it has always been very apparent to me that 'nothing could be further from the truth'.  And even when there has been a coordinated effort to merge and/or converge I have always observed much bickering amongst some of the participants.  Which is not always a bad thing.  Particularly, if their are fundamental differences between the concerned parties.  And when there are signs of more cohesiveness it is still the practice of most to began the day with a Pre-Rally assemblance that speaks to those who are more in step with their own particular view and/or agenda.  Which and immediately after some sort of prayer and/or meditation will then be followed by what in recent years has commonly been referred to as a 'Feeder March'. Whereby the group will then march en masse to the main event ... where but as a show of force ... they will then join, rally and/or march in solidarity with many other groups who have a similar but not always the same focus and/or reasons for dermonstrating and/or celebrating.

Spearheaded by
DAWN-DC and other DC based anti-war and peace groups the 2005 Counter-Inaugural has more of  a left as opposed to liberal swing.

The second which is definately left and with a much more international base,  global appeal and multicultural flavor is
A.N.S.W.E.R Counter-Inaugural.

A thrid and always more boisterous, perhaps more 'obstructive' and, therefore, more
visable group is the DC Anarchist Resistance some whose members have connections with Mobalization for Global Justice, known for their world-wide IMF-WB demonstrations.

And, finally, what was first staged as a direct action against George Bush during the
June 2002 OSU grauduation has now metamorphosed into the Turn your back on bush Counter-Inaugural that will appeal to those who are more liberal.  Or, who are on the right, but that have fundamental disagreements with Bush.

While counter demonstrations are a major focus of any Inauguaral it is always my practice to document all sides of an issue.  In my attempt to be 'fair and balanced' and though I've searched the web for Pro-Bush Inaugural Protests none have yet been located.  So, for starters here are some Pro Bush sites and events that may would be of interest to some.

o purchase Pro Bush gear online visit
Pro Bush and Pro GOP Gear at Cafe Press.

Speaking of gear MLK birthday is traditionally a holiday that
Leather Weekend converges onto WDC where its main convening place is the Washinton Plaza Hotel.  It is not ironic that just after and quite possibly, in some cases, just before the leather folks depart from the Thomas Circle hotel with all their S&M gear that conservative right  wingers from the Free Republic will arrive just in time for their 20 January 2005 Free Republic Inaugural Ball.

The
Republican National Committee will hold its Winter Mereting on 18-19 January 2005 at the renaissance Washington Hotel.  Primary business includes election of a new Chairman and Co-Chairman.

Kid Rock
, the vulgar rock-rapper whom inauguration staff initially talked of headlining the youth concert next week as part of the festivities for president Bush's swearing in, will not be appearing after all.

Tentative Calendar of Events for J20

On December 2004, Major George McNeil, director of the Regimental band of the Vrginia Tech Corps of Cadets, was notified by the Presidential Committee that the band, better known as the
Highty-Tighties, had been selected to participate in the 2005 Presidiential Inauguration Parade.
