It was almost one year ago today, on Thursday afternoon, 17 February 2005, that I would return to Chinatown to continue with my ongoing documentary project, that I had first began on New Years Eve, 31 December 2004 when for the first time that I would observe the new Gallery Place Mall.  After dropping off some photographic material to family members who work at the corner of 7th Street and Massachusetts Avenue and while taking architectural pictures along the way I'd walk from Massachusetts Avenue to 6th Street, turn right and proceed to H Street, turn right and head west in the direction of 7th Street.  Reflecting on my 2005 Black History Month Project 'Blackface Mannequins' I'd  photograph the mannequins and window displays at United Bennelton at which time a black security guard would approach me..

The incident in Chinatwon on 17 February 2005, couipled with that which took place  n Stead Park, a few days eariler, over Valentines Day Weekend ... left more than a bad taste in mouth.
