  window, from which files can be opened directly in an existing
  metapad window.

  * Back, forward, run and quickview commands
  * Create new file, save as, delete
  * Open shell links
  * Drag & Drop support
  * Favorites management
  * Mostly adjustable
  * etc.

New in Version 2.0

  * Window is now displayed in taskbar
  * Custom file filters can be specified
  * Copy, move and rename commands
  * Create shell links, files and directories
  * Open with... command
  * More modern design
  * etc.

metapad

  metapath works with any version of metapad and metapad LE above 1.0b,
  which are available free of charge at:
  http://www.liquidninja.com/metapad/

Integration within metapad

  To integrate metapath within metapad, you can specify metapath.exe as
  an external viewer for metapad. Then simply press the appropriate
  hotkey or toolbar button to have metapath jump to the currently
  opened file.

Installation and Uninstallation

  Just put a copy of metapath.exe to the same directory as metapad.exe.
  To remove the metapath registry entries, type "metapath /u" at a
  command prompt. Then you can delete metapath.exe to have a complete,
  traceless uninstall.

Tips and Tricks, Special Features

  Run Dialog Box

  The Run Dialog Box has a secret feature: Enter a "/" at the beginning
  of the command line to select the specified file or directory in the
  active metapath window. You can enter things like /win.ini - handy,
  isn't it?

  The "Show - System Objects" Command

  System objects are not only files with the system and/or hidden
  attributes set, but also binary files and device drivers not relevant
  to the user, exactly as in Windows Explorer.

  Supported Pathnames

  metapath supports UNC pathnames like i.e. \\comp\share. You can
  specify them as command line parameters or use the Directory" command
  to access shared resources on other network computers. Moreover,
  pathnames can be relative or may contain environment variables. Long
  names containing blanks must be put into quotation marks, as usual
  for Windows (but not in the "Options" dialog box).

  Command Line Parameters

  metapath [file|dir] [/n] [/f] [/u]
    file|dir: File or directory to open, can be a relative pathname.
    /n: Always opens a new metapath window, even if the "reuse-window"
        option is on.
    /f: Jumps to "Favorites" folder at startup.
    /u: Removes the registry entries created by metapath.

  Specify Custom Filters

  In the filter dialog, you can choose custom filters from a drop-down
  menu, which can be defined using the following registry key:
  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\metapath\Filters
  See the included file Filters.reg for an example. The value name is
  the filter description, the vlaue itself is the filter. Filters are
  added to the menu in the order they were created. The & sign in the
  filter description defines a hotkey.

  Passing Command Line Options to Quickviewer and Editor

  If you would like to pass some command line options to the quickview
  and edit programs specified in the "Locations" property page, you can
  use links to these programs and include the command line options in
  the "Target" field of the link.

  "Open with..." can copy Files

  If you create a link to a folder and place it in the directory used
  by the "Open with..." dialog, files and directories will be copied to
  that folder when you choose it as the target for the "Open with..."
  operation.

  The Auto Refresh Rate

  From time to time, metapath checks the current directory for changes
  and updates the filelist, if necessary. You can control the interval
  for this operation with the numeric registry value "AutoRefreshRate"
  created in the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\metapath\Settings. The
  value is multiplied by 10 ms to calculate the interval (i.e. a value
  of 30 means that the filelist is updated every 300 ms, if necessary).
  A value of 0 disables the auto refresh function, then you have to hit
  F5 each time you would like to have an up-to-date view.
