Ekawati Marhaenny Dukut participated in the 1st Asia TEFL Conference held in Busan, South Korea (2003) as one of the limited speakers to receive a travel grant. In this conference, she was selected as one of the Research Directors for Asia TEFL. Her specialty in American Studies has been acknowledged by winning the Fulbright grant to a summer program in Newschool University, New York (2001) and in having her article on "Making use of photographs to enhance cultural understanding: An American Studies approach" published in the Tapestry of English Language Teaching and Learning in Indonesia (2004). Her experience overseas while she was young enables her to become a satisfactory English Pronunciation and Speaking lecturer in addition to American Studies, Prose-Drama-Poetry Analysis, and Contemporary-Popular Literature courses. At the Faculty of Letters, Soegijapranata Catholic University, Semarang, she is entrusted with the position of Vice Dean of Acasemic Affairs where one of her main responsibilities is to chief the International Seminar on "Representation of Cultural Values in Language and Literature" to be held in January 2005. As a member of the Faculty she manages the Culture, English Language Teaching & Literature (Celt) as the chief editor.
