Children who are learning a foreign language are still learning about their world. They rarely have, or perceive a need to learn a foreign language. Therefore the incentive to learn has to come from the teacher, the materials and activities used in class. Nowadays children are introduced or exposed to technology such as computers at an early age and generally most of them are interested in it. With regard to this, teachers of young learners should try to incorporate what students are interested in, into their classrooms to boost their interest and motivation in learning English.

In this presentation, participants will be introduced to techniques and activities using Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and Non-CALL programs, including WIDA, Hot Potatoes, word processing and the Internet. The presentation aims to both encourage teachers who are unfamiliar with these media to use them with their learners, as well as provide new ideas to teachers who are already using computer activities with their learners.
