Teaching Science to Children in English: Why Not?

At present, the Directorate of
Basic and Secondary Education, under the Ministry of National Education, is
carrying out a training program for Elementary school science teachers to conduct
their classes bilingually. The training is held in two stages: October and
December 2003, at the State University of Malang. In
the next academic year, it is hoped that Math, Physics, and Biology will be
taught using two languages, i.e.
