Wanted: Good Language Learner

One of the major objectives of teaching a foreign language is to enable the learners to become autonomous, that is the ability of continue learning the foreign language without the teacher’s assistance. Sooner or later they have to stand on their own feet. There are a number of factors which contribute to the ability to be autonomous. The paper briefly discusses some of the paramount factors which are instrumental in the process of self-direction, such as the teacher, the learners and the learning strategies as well as the facilities.
