Cloze Procedure as
a Means to Improve

facts concerning reading that the writer has come across in everyday life, most
SMA graduates are unable to read English. This is due partly to the process of
teaching and learning English at SMA. Every time the students are asked to read
a passage, they are always busy with their dictionaries looking up the words
they do not understand in the passage they are reading. Consequently, they fail
to pick up the ideas in the passage, for
