Contextual Teaching and
Learning in Argumentative Writing Classroom
Ouda Teda Ena
Contextual
teaching and learning (CTL) promotes critical thinking. It is in line with the
principles of argumentative writing in which students have to form premises and
evaluate phenomena in such a way that they are logical and convincing. The
learning approaches in CTL -
problem-based, project-based, and work-based learning as well as
service and collaborative learning - are
very effective to promote students’ critical thinking that enables them to
write better argumentative essays.
