This paper explores the possibility of giving the opportunity and encouragement for students to cultivate and spark their critical and creative thoughts through the traditionally passive subjects at the English Department at Indonesian universities.  By doing so, students are expected to get used to critically look at issues in the society and are willing to give critical and creative thoughts towards them.  Thus, they will become responsible individuals much needed for Indonesia’s future.
