The era of globalization requires a lot of professionalism to survive in a tight competition. Teachers as well as students are to be able to speak English well to communicate with others. So far students often struggle to master it due to their cultural background and circumstances which make them hard to express their idea while teachers face a lot of constrains to encourage students to speak English well and fluently especially in big classes. Many methods and techniques of teaching and mastering speaking English have ever been proposed by experts to prepare teachers as well as students to answer the global challenges; however, the effective results are just for ideal classes with 20-25 students. In overcoming many constraints to make large classes lively and enjoyable either for teachers as well as for students, the writer will try to propose an alternative to teach speaking based on the recent research at STBA Yapari ABA Bandung. The result of her studies so far shows a better performance of students’ speaking using dialogue techniques than those of role-play techniques in which passive students cannot be optimally encouraged to express their idea orally.
