Training EFL Students in the Use of Strategies for Peer Response

Utami Widiati

This chapter discusses the procedure of training EFL students in the use of strategies for effective peer response. The subjects of the study were trained to provide response for their peers within the paradigm of the process approach to teaching writing. The study showed that significant changes were obtained in students’ attitudes toward peer response and that classmates’ comments helped them improve their writing in terms of content, organization, and language. The author believes that the training in the use of strategies for effective peer response has convinced the students that peer response was a worthwhile activity.
