English has been taught in elementary schools in Indonesia. In spite of the fact that it is a compulsory subject for all students from in secondary to tertiary educational institutions, English is taught as an optional subject in elementary schools. Every region or province in Indonesia has the right to include English as a “local content” in their school curriculum. This chapter deals with the preparation of a course for students of the English department of a teachers’ college. The course named “English for Young Learners” attempts to meet the requirement of undergraduate degree in English education. It aims to respond to the increasing demand of English teachers in elementary schools as a result of the inclusion of English as a subject in these schools. Data for the curriculum design was based on a need analysis conducted previously and on other sources. This course will be included in the curriculum of English department of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Lampung University which produces English teachers.
