Teaching Spoken and Written English Simultaneously in Specific Genres

This paper will discuss about the relation between spoken and written forms of language. It will be presented here in detail what are the differences and the similarities between both forms. Some reasons on why it is very important to teach speaking and writing simultaneously are the core of the discussion. It will be supported by explaining the types of texts or genres which are necessary to be taught to the students based on level of literacy, i.e. performative, informational, functional, and epistemic. The different forms in a specific genre will be discussed more which accompanied by some examples both spoken and written forms in the same genre. It will be presented to give more understanding on what are the differences and similarities and why they need to be taught simultaneously. Moreover, it will be presented the cycle on how to teach the two forms in the same time, so that teachers have understanding on how to teach them.
