Students learning a foreign language must have the four basic skills in language learning, that is speaking, listening, reading, and writing. These skills are not merely learned for themselves as a separate part of language learning, but they involve critical thinking skills. In reading for example, students must not only look at the language (in this case the form), but to be a good reader they have to think critically, both on the language and the content of the texts. Since critical thinking itself is a kind of skill, it should be integrated in the teaching of other skills. One example of the ways to enhance students’ critical thinking is by writing a journal after reading some texts, like newspaper articles and novels. Beside this common technique, there are still other ways

to explore and help students use their critical thinking skills. This paper discusses some possible techniques in enhancing students’ critical thinking which are integrated in the teaching of the four language skills.
