The Implementation of Competence-Based Curriculum
at One of Favorite Schools in Lampung: A Case Study
Ujang Suparman
The low quality of education and human resources in
Indonesia has been considered one of the factors that causes the Indonesian
people not to be able to recover their economic crises which has last since
1997, (Suderadjat, 2004). The government's effort, which has been rigorously
carried out to overcome the problem is by means of reorientation of educational
system in Indonesia
from verbalistic to competence-based approach which is implemented under 2003
Sisdiknas (National system of education).
Although this is a government's big program on education
throughout Indonesia,
little is there any research on the implementation of CBC, especially in Lampung
Province. The research problem
raised in the current study is, therefore, "How is the implementation of
the Competence- Based Curriculum (CBC) in Lampung?" The objective of the
study is to investigate the implementation of the CBC in Lampung especially at
Junior High School. The findings of this research are expected to be beneficial
information for the regional government, decision makers, educators and
stakeholders as feedback for making any further educational improvements in the
future. Based on its nature and objective, the research design used is qualitative
descriptive, utilizing observation and questionnaire as the data collecting
techniques. The data was analysed and compared with the predetermined criteria
of the ideal CBC.
