The talking about Competency Based Curriculum cannot be separated from the discussion on what activities which are likely to be the most suitable to use during teaching and learning process. In fact however, most English teachers are still in doubt about this. They feel. that designing competency-based activities is as difficult and unclear as understanding what competency-based teaching is. And the availability of such information is not sufficiently given yet If there is, it may come in sporadically, in discontinuous manner. and teachers often feel uncertain about the accuracy of the picture they are getting. As a result of this, teachers usually do usual and traditional learning activities in the classroom and innocently think that the teaching they've done has been competency-based already. This paper, however attempts to offer English teachers some alternatives of learning activities which are based on the students' competency- The discussion of those activities will be given based on four English macro skills i.e. reading, listening, speaking and writing- Each of them. will he elaborated in details including type of activity, level of difficulty, time required material needed, language function practiced. structure and procedure as well.
