An outgoing problem dealing with
teaching English for non English major students is use management of big
classes. ESP becomes the choice to teach English in such situation because it
is assumed that this kind of English is required by non English major students.
Unfortunately, the teaching and learning process often falls
due to a number of problems on of which is mentioned above.
This paper discusses the problems
arisen in teaching ESP reading in the Faculty Economics, Universitas
Jember. Material development and the way how this
material delivered to the students are discussed. Some proposed activities to
develop the students’ schema on the content of the reading materials are also
part of the discussion.
Finally, some proposed plan to
develop the teaching and learning process such as collaboration with the
subject specialist is also taken into consideration. Some problems dealing with
teaching ESP could be minimized if this concept works well.
