Itje Chodidjah

The establishment of College of Foreign Languages (Sekolah Tinggi Bahasa Asing) was meant to give more flexibility for anyone who wants to get degree in a foreign language department. It is assumed that the graduates can choose of whether continuing their study for further education, become scholars or professionals in some particular professions in the language they learn, such as translator. For the case of English Department, students of College of Foreign Languages are equipped with more practical subjects that are put into two categories, compulsory package and free options. The compulsory package of consists of Literature and Linguistics packages, that are directed to more multiple purposes and Translation and Teaching package, which are more of practical oriented. The free options are designed to meet the need of industry and business.  They consist of subjects such as, business English, web design etc. It shows that College of Foreign Languages has more autonomy in making its curriculum more flexible and realistic to fulfil the need of the industry.
