The Darkness & Light Trilogy by R. J. Anderson. Rated PG. Snape/OC
Fandom: Harry Potter
When Maude Moody was a child, an unknown Death Eater saved her from the raid that killed her parents--at the cost of her eyesight. Now, her uncle Alastor has arranged to have her transferred from Durmstrang to Hogwarts for her senior year, to keep an eye on the highly suspicious Head of Slytherin House, a man who shares Maude's own love of potions, and whose voice is intriguingly familiar.
Heavily influenced by Lauren King's Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes stories, this is a slow paced and suspenseful romance featuring some of the best OCs I've ever encountered. Maude is simultaneously awkward and precocious, her friend Imogene Crump (a Hufflepuff with a name that, according to Snape, sounds like a train wreck) an immensely likable busybody, and the cast of various supporting characters anything but stereotypes. And the author's version of Mad-Eye Moody is delightfully gruff and cantankerous.

Emerald & Ebony by Lilly Malfoy. Rated PG-13. Snape/McGonagall
Fandom: Harry Potter
While Snape is away on a highly dangerous spying mission, he and McGonagall communicate through letters.
This may be the first Snape/McGonagall story in the fandom. It's certainly one of the most famous. The story opens in the best tradition of epistolary fiction, with confessions of love (well, affection--love takes a bit longer) done solely through letters. Think "You've Got Mail" but with much more subtle humour and without the mystery. Don't worry about being bored, though--the tale closes with some fast-paced and suspenseful action scenes.

The Fatted Calf Arc by Katt. Rated PG-13. Gambit+Rogue.
Fandom: X-Men (movie canon)
When Cyclops rescues a street smart young mutant from a burned out hotel in Seattle and brings him home, its hatred at first sight between him and Marie. Or is it? This cycle of seven stories features Marie whining, Remy whining, Logan whining, and the moments of understanding Marie and Remy havein between screaming at each other.
I swear, these stories contain romance. Its just very subtle romance. They also contain a wonderfully written take on the relationship between Scott and Jean and an almost brotherly dynamic between Scott and Remy. And not only does the author do a wonderful job of working normal canon into the movie universe, she also generates some screamingly funny dialogue (especially in Higher Learning and Two Princes) and actually makes me like Scott.

Docet Minervam, by Grace. Not Rated, but somewhere between PG and PG-13. Snape/McGonagall
Fandom: Harry Potter
Gilderoy Lockhart, the ever cunning and perceptive relationship expert, has twigged to the secret romance between two of his co-workers. Or has he? Or is there even a romance? Snape and McGonagall team up against their least favourite colleague.
Sadly, this is more of a ficlet than a fic--sadly, because what there is of it is sparkles with clever dialogue and brilliant characterization. And the last few paragraphs are pretty romantic, too. Yet another reminder as to why Snape/McGonagall shippers refer to this pairing as "Like Austen with Attitude."
