We arrived at the Hotel Ukraine. We checked in, and were asked how we were going to pay for the room. I explained to her the agreement Dima had with the agency. Inna had not heard about it, but would check into it. Inna left us in our hotel room at 8:45PM, explaining that we were to go to dinner, and she would meet up with us at 4pm tomorrow. She gave us directions to a pizza place down the street, and then to Arbot Street, which we will visit tomorrow She also explained that our translator while in Moscow will be Katia, who will be calling us tomorrow.
I called Kevin W. and left a message on his voice mail, explaining the situation. I did not have a number to give him to reach us, so I will have to call him back later.
We left the hotel to try to find the pizza place that Inna told us about. We found it, but had a hard time ordering because we could not speak Russian. Someone handed us a menu that was in English, so we decided what we wanted and pointed to what we wanted on the menu, but noone there could read English. The only people working there were teenagers, and this seemed to be the local teenage hangout. We didn't get exactly what we ordered, but we were given some type of pizza, fried chicken, and what looked like some type of beet salad. We took our food back to the hotel and ate, then I called Kevin again. He will be calling Dima to find out about the court date.
12:30am: When Kevin called back, he said that the court date had been changed to the 24th because the judge originally scheduled to hear the case is a friend of Tatiana's, and she does not want Dima to finish handling Marina's adoption. Tatiana had gone to the judge and told her that if she was not in court with us, she didn't want the adoption approved. Dima went to the Governor of Voronezh and explained the need for a new judge because Tatiana was interfering with the adoption for her own personal gain. The change in judges was granted. The new judge is trying to squeeze us in on the 23rd instead of the 24th. Please God, let them change our court date to Tues, and PLEASE do not allow Tatiana interfere with that adoption!
At 8am, I went down stairs to the front dest to get our passports from Registration (in Russia, all passports have to be registered at all hotels you stay at, as proof as to where you were while in Russia) We then went down for breakfast. It was a large buffet with lots to choose from Kevin had scrambled eggs, but didn't like them much, orange juice, rolls, and a few differant things he tried, most he didn't like. I had a croissiant with meat and cheese, an omelet. which was more like baked scrambled egg with green beans on top, yogurt, home fries and peach juice.
Katia arrived at 12:45. She explained about the court date being changed, then walked us to McDonalds for lunch. She gave us directions to Arbat Street and we did LOTS of shopping. We then went to the grocery store and bought soda's and snacks for the train ride. Inna will pick us up at 7:30pm to take us to the train station to head to Voronezh. Katia was supposed to take us, but Tatiana knows Katia, but she doesn't know Inna, so Inna will take us unstead.
