Welcome

***This site is still under construction, so please check back often as I am always updating it.***

We are Kevin & Lisa Carrier, and we want to introduce everyone to our new daughter that we just adopted from Voronezh, Russia. We are putting this site together for our friends and family so you can see each and every step that we took to bring our precious little girl home.

International Adoption

International adoption is an experience I would not give back for anything. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions ranging from tears of frustration to tears of joy, sometimes all in the same day.

When Kevin first asked me about adoption, I told him we could talk about it. But I really didn't want to. The boys were teenagers. In a couple years, Frank would be heading off to college and John was only a couple years behind him, and I really didn't feel like starting over raising kids.

Then one day, the Lord changed my heart about the whole idea by showing me an article in the newspaper about a baby girl in an overseas hospital that was being placed in the data banks for international adoption. She was not adoptable within her birth country because of the circumstances of her birth.

We had originally decided to adopt a 5-6 year old girl from China. We used a local agency to start our home study and to assist with our adoption, but it did not work out, but that's another story.

In February 2001, we found America-China Adoption Association (ACAA). We met with them in April 2001 in their McLean, Va office while on a family vacation to visit my sister Natalie and tour Washington, DC. We met with Kimberly, who will later be our family coordinator, whom I had previously spoken on the phone with. Everyone there made us feel very welcome, and we knew we had made the right decision. We were very impressed with how we were treated, and what the staff had to say. We could tell they really wanted to help us. We signed our application before we left the office, and received our acceptance letter shortly after we returned home.
